Moving House (AAAARRRRGGGHHH!)

Today we failed to exchange contracts for our house move for a 4th time. Once is unfortunate, twice is annoying , the third time anger begins to rise and the 4th time your about ready to give up.

It makes me ask once again why is house buying/selling such a mazy process? Why isn’t it simple? We’ve been exchanging property ownership from almost the beginning of mankind, surely someone must have found a way of making this simple. I know property is probably the most expensive thing most of us ever buy or sell and we really do want to make sure its done right but surely part of the ‘right’ is being able to understand the process.

My thoughts are the process remains complicated simply to justify the existence of most solicitors offices. If heaven forbid the general public could understand how simple the process could be then we would start to refuse to pay the high fees the legal profession currently charges us for doing very little.

I currently average moving house every 8 years. After this particular move I’m wondering if that average is about to increase.
