MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

The Review

The only word, well partial word, I can use to describe this album is "un". As in uninspiring, underwhelming, unsatisfactory.

This is the first album in the list that totally faded into the background while I was working. In fact it drifted so far into the background that at one point I left the room and forgot to pause it. Wanting to totally honour my commitment to listen to every album in it's entirety I then had to start the album again from the beginning as I genuinely had no idea where I was in it's list of tracks when I had left the room.

I have found it really hard to pick a favourite track for this one so I am going with the one track that actually made me look up and see what it was called as that's the only one I know the name of.

Why Does This Review Exist?

I am working my way through Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of all time list and reviewing each album.

  • Each album is listened to only once.
  • The album is used as background music while working so how much attention I pay to it will depend on what I am doing at the time.
  • I do no research about the album or the artist.
  • The review is a one off, one moment opinion that may change with further listening.
